Hello everyone, as promised I have a bunch of stuff from the French Riviera to show you. Today I will dedicate the post to the city of Nice. My sister was doing an internship here, and I came to visit.
Let's start saying that Nice is a really expensive city, and I was there for one entire week, so we couldn't eat outside everyday, we had to make a choice and our choice has been going out for every single breakfast, or take away!!!! So worth it. You pay less than a proper meal and I have to say that French are masters for bakery. Just find a Boulangerie and get ANYTHING, you can't be wrong. My favourite piece is the simple croissant, soooooo delicious. Our suggestion is the place "Pain & Cie".
Γεια σε όλους, όπως σας υποσχέθηκα έχω ένα σωρό πράγματα από τη Κυανή ακτή για να σας δείξω. Σήμερα θα αφιερώσω το post στην πόλη της Νίκαιας. Η αδελφή μου έκανε μια πρακτική εδώ και ήρθα να την  επισκεφθώ.
Ας ξεκινήσουμε με το ότι η Νίκαια είναι μια πολύ ακριβή πόλη και ήμουν εκεί για μια ολόκληρη εβδομάδα, οπότε δεν μπορούσαμε να φάμε έξω καθημερινά, έπρεπε να κάνουμε μια επιλογή και η επιλογή μας ήταν να τρώμε έξω μόνο πρωινό. Πληρώνετε λιγότερο από ένα σωστό γεύμα, αλλά πρέπει να πω ότι οι Γάλλοι είναι masters των φούρνων. Απλά βρείτε ένα Boulangerie και δοκιμάστε τα ΟΛΑ, δεν μπορείτε να κάνετε λάθος. Το αγαπημένο μου είναι ένα απλό κρουασάν, τόοοοσο νόστιμο. Προτίνουμε το μέρος "Pain & Cie".



In Nice there are two totally different styles:
- A) The old town, that basically coincides with the medioeval city, that was bounded by the sea, the mount Boron and the river Paillion. Here we find ancient buildings, narrow streets, coloured houses and old written fonts all over the streets and shops.
A Nizza ci sono due stili completamente diversi:
- A) Il centro storico, che sostanzialmente coincide con la città medioevale, che era delimitata dal mare, dal monte Boron e dal fiume Paillion. Qui troviamo edifici antichi, strade strette, case colorate e vecchie scritte su strade e negozi.



In the old town you can also find amazing shops that produce typical French products, it is not from the souvenir category, they are great shops with tradition, where you can buy the Marseille soap, parfums, lavender...sooooooo nice, I got two face and lips balms and one of them will shortly part of a giveaway.








-B) And the new city, that is indeed historical as well. The most characteristic part of this area is surely the seafront Promenade des Anglais: Walkaway of the English. The noun comes from the interest that English had in the second half of the 18th century in this beautiful city with mild Mediterranean climate. Many of them were spending here their winters. The symbol of the Promenade des Anglais are surely the blue iron chairs along the way.
The most famous building here is the Hotel Negresco (1912), that can be said the symbol of Nice. Henri Negresco was the director of the municipal Casino in Nice and he built an hotel for this sort of clients. Fun fact, only two years after, the World War I begun and it became an hospital.
-B) E la città nuova, che è comunque storica. La parte più caratteristica di questa zona è sicuramente il lungomare Promenade des Anglais: la camminata degli inglesi. Il nome deriva dall'interesse che gli inglesi ebbero nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo per questa bella città dal clima mite mediterraneo. Molti trascorrevano qui i loro inverni. Il simbolo della Promenade des Anglais sono sicuramente le sedie di ferro blu lungo la via.
L'edificio più famoso qui è l'Hotel Negresco (1912), che può essere definito il simbolo di Nizza. Henri Negresco è stato direttore del casinò municipale di Nizza e ha costruito un hotel per questo tipo di clienti. Fatto divertente, solo due anni dopo, la prima guerra mondiale iniziò e divenne un ospedale.




Another historical building is the Restaurant De La Réserve. It is next to the port of Nice. At the end of the nineteenth century a fishing boat was anchored to a rock and people could eat and drink there. After the damage of the vessel, they built on the same rock some diving boards from where you could jump. Today there is restaurant Le Plongeoir that kept the diving boards as a sculpture, and reproduced a more fix concrete vessel-inspired platform.
I absolutely suggest you to go. The restaurant is super expensive, and always full, so in high season you must make a reservation, but if you get a cocktail in the lower level, you will enjoy the sea view and it will be one of your best choices in Nice.
Un altro edificio storico è il ristorante De La Réserve. È vicino al porto di Nizza. Alla fine del XIX secolo una barca da pesca era stata ancorata ad uno scoglio e la gente poteva mangiarvi e bervi sopra. Dopo danni alla nave, hanno costruito sulla stessa roccia alcuni trampolini da dove poter saltare. Oggi c'è il ristorante Le Plongeoir che ha tenuto i trampolini come scultura e ha riprodotto una piattaforma ispirata alla forma di una nave in cemento.
Vi consiglio assolutamente di andare. Il ristorante è super costoso e sempre pieno, quindi in alta stagione è necessario effettuare una prenotazione, ma se si prende semplicemente un cocktail nel livello inferiore, si può godere della vista sul mare e sarà una delle migliori scelte che potete fare a Nizza.






In the area of the port you can catch a Free boat: "Lou Passagin" to cross the marina. It is a really short cruise, but it is a nice experience and you can have a perspective of the port by the sea. To catch the boat you must wait in front of the signal with the yellow whale tail, the service is from 10.00 to 19.00. So basically it connects the area of Restaurant De La Reserve, with the signal #ILOVENICE.



Another focal point of Nice Ville is Place Masséna with the Coulée Verte. In the 2013 had been the opening of the Promenade du Paillon, or also called Coulèe Verte: the Paillon River was covered over creating an area of suspended gardens. If you have children this is a Must, cause it is full of games, playground areas and sprinkling fountains. Place Masséna that was already important because, before the Coulèe Verte, was the only connection between the old town and the new one, now it's even more important cause it is the ending point of the Couléè Verte, and it hosts many festivals, concerts, in few words a spot for pubblic events. Another particular touch in the square are the seven statues that represent the seven continents that during the night change colour to reproduce the dialog between them.






I had been in Nice from the 11th till the 17th July, so of course we watched the final of the football World Cup. We went to the AC Hotel by Marriott, cause after the terrorist attack of 2016 in Promenade des Anglais we didn't wanna risk it, and France won! They celebrated soooooo much. We spent almost one hour watching crazy people with horns, trumpets, fireworks going here and there.
P.s. If you are in Nice the terrace of Marriott hotel is great.
Sono stata a Nizza dall'11 al 17 luglio, quindi ovviamente abbiamo assistito alla finale dei mondiali di calcio. Siamo andate all'AC Hotel by Marriott, perché dopo l'attacco terroristico del 2016 in Promenade des Anglais non volevamo rischiare, e la Francia ha vinto! Hanno festeggiato mooolto. Abbiamo passato quasi un'ora a guardare la gente impazzita che suonava clacson e trombe vestita di bandiere.
P. s. Se siete a Nizza, la terrazza dell'hotel Marriott è fantastica.






The typical food of Nice that my sister and I tried and suggest is:
- Pissaladière: that is like a thick pizza with caramelised onions, black olives and anchovies. The etymology comes from salted fish.
- Socca: a pancake of chickpea flour
- Salade Niçoise: salad of tomatoes, boiled eggs, olives, anchovies, and can slightly variate during the seasons.
-Fois gras: this is typical of all France and is liver or duck or goose.
Il cibo tipico di Nizza che mia sorella e io abbiamo provato e suggeriamo è:
- Pissaladière: è come una pizza alta con cipolle caramellate, olive nere e acciughe. L'etimologia deriva dal pesce salato.
- Socca: una frittata di farina di ceci (come la farinata, cecina).
- Salade Niçoise: insalata di pomodori, uova sode, olive, acciughe e può variare leggermente durante le stagioni.
-Fois gras: questo è tipico di tutta la Francia ed è fegato o anatra o oca.
