As I had already said, here we are with a second post, that explains what else you can do in Kalavrita. Few kilometers far away, there are some really suggestive caves: Spileo ton Limnon. Literally the cave of the lakes, infact there are 13 lakes developed in three levels, but for now, it is possible to visit just one of them. The cave is originated by a subterranean river, that during the winter flows and during the summer creates the lakes. Through the ages the presence of the calcareous water developed stalactites (from the top) and stalagmites (from the bottom). The ticket is kind of pricey, 9 euros, but it totally worth it! There is also a guide tour included, even if the explanation was not one of the best (or maybe I went in a really busy day and they didn't have time).
After that, we went for lunch. At this point you can go back to Kalavrita, but it is crowded and touristic, I suggest you to go to Planitero, a village with the spring of the river Aroanios. The place is magical and the fish is super fresh. So basically you can stop in any of the small restaurants that you find along the way, all of them are family-run business. You can also find a sort of street market with biological products of the area.
Come già anticipato, eccoci con un secondo post, che spiega cos'altro si può fare a Kalavrita. A pochi chilometri di distanza, ci sono alcune grotte davvero suggestive: Spileo ton Limnon. Letteralmente la grotta dei laghi, infatti ci sono 13 laghi sviluppati su tre livelli, ma per ora è possibile visitarne solo uno. La grotta è originata da un fiume sotterraneo, che durante l'inverno scorre e durante l'estate crea, per l'appunto, i laghi. Nel corso dei secoli la presenza dell'acqua calcarea ha dato origine a stalattiti (dall'alto) e stalagmiti (dal basso). Il biglietto è un po' caro, 9 euro, ma ne vale veramente la pena! C'è anche una visita guidata inclusa, anche se la spiegazione non è stata delle migliori ( o forse sono stata in una giornata molto impegnativa e non avevano tempo).
Dopodiché siamo andati a pranzo. A questo punto o tornate a Kalavrita, ma è affollata e turistica, o vi consiglio di andare a Planitero, un villaggio con la sorgente del fiume Aroanios. Il posto è magico e il pesce è super fresco. Quindi, in pratica, potete fermarvi in qualunque dei piccoli ristoranti che troverete lungo il percorso, perché sono tutti a conduzione familiare. Qui è inoltre possibile trovare una sorta di mercato di strada con prodotti biologici della zona.
