We decided to move from Kyoto to Tokyo really early in the morning. We got off at the central station. My suggestion is to use the lockers for your luggages, that are in almost every big Japanese station, they cost from 300yen to 700yen for the big ones. The central station is the heart of Tokyo, you see big skyscrapers all around, the scale of everything is enormous, but it is an area so calm and quiet.

If you start walking straight from the central exit of the station, you will end in the gardens of the imperial palace. We didn't got into the actual palace, because I believe that you should have a permission to do so. But from the outside, the contrast between the modern skyscrapers and the ancient buildings of the palace is really interesting. Have a look also at the trees all around, the gardeners do an excellent job.
P.S. In my whole trip to Japan, I was interested in the manholes, they are always customed. In front of the imperial palace, for exemple, they were decorated with flowers.

Coming back to the central station, we spotted in the Marounouchi building a Rugby temple, because we have been in Japan during the Rugby World Cup. They built a temple where every fan could pray for its team and there was also a bench with a Sumo player with a rugby ball in his hands. Exactly in front of this building there is a pedestrian area with some tables and chairs where anyone can sit, so we grabbed a Vietnamese sandwich and we enjoyed the place.

They only big district left from our trip was Ueno, so we jumped into the Metro and we reached this park. I should say that I didn't love it. Maybe if you have children you can enter the zoo, but we didn't. We just enjoyed the big lake with the lotus plants and then, we had a small walk in the Ueno market, after that we decided to leave.

To close in the best way this visit of Tokyo, I had to see the Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku. We got off at Harajuku station, in this area there are a loooot of shops, I really suggest you to come here for cloth-shopping, and you will see also many people dressed with nice style. In one of the streets there is a monitor that shows the people that are walking, I managed to snap a picture when it was showing me.
The Tokyu Plaza is so special because it has an amazing entrance full of mirrors that go in different directions, so magical. It is the perfect spot for an instagram picture.

Since we decided to visit Japan, I could not avoid a stop in Hiroshima, where in the 1945 one of the two atomic bombs exploded. We arrived here by the Shinkansen train Kyoto-Hiroshima after a couple of hours (check day 3 to see how to get the JRPass and travel for free for 7 days). The first thing that we did was visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. It has been one of the strongest experiences that I have ever had. I was feeling so heavy after that tour, but it is so important to remember, and ANYONE should go. For a moment, with the photos, the audioguides and the pieces of clothes and buildings that were found, you can imagine being there with them.
Hiroshima was so hurt that they clearly tried to cover up this wound. Before going, I was expecting to find a big part of the city still destroyed and another new part redeveloped, but it hasn't been like that. If you don't go to the memorial, you cannot understand what happened. They rebuilt everything, except one building in the Memorial park, so that their eyes can forget what they had to deal with. This building didn't collapse, because it was exactly 40 meters next to the hypocentre. And in correspondence of the exact hypocentre, there is a big torch with a flame that never stops.

Really close to Hiroshima there is a special island that you cannot miss: Itsukushima, or also know as Miyajima island. Again you can use the ferry boat of the JR lines, and travel for free with your JRPass from Miyajimaguchi. During the sail you will spot some oysters cultivations in the sea, and many fishermen that with their boats go to collect them. It is a must to try the oysters of Miyajima. I suggest them with paprika and lemon.

Another of the biggest attractions, at least for me, were the free deers. I mean, look at my face...
Like in Nara, you can find deers all over the place, just pay attention because they are always hungry, so if you have something to eat, they will come to you, and not in a shy way. I have seen one deer trying to eat a lady's T-shirt. But if you have nothing edible with you, you can gently pet them.

When you get off the ferry boat and you get over the first shock of seeing free deers everywhere, you can walk through the souvenir-street, where I actually bought almost all the souvenirs that I got from Japan. They have really good prices, and you can find every sort of things to buy: from earrings, to keychains, to kimono, to cookies... Speaking of cookies, I am sorry for not having a picture of them, but, give a try to the Momiji Manju, maple shaped cakes, stuffed with any flavours (adorable the one with cheese).

As I said in day 4, the typical food of Hiroshima is: Okonomiyaki. You have to stop in one of the restaurants that do it and try it. I can suggest you the place Kurawanka where you can actually see the process to make this dish (omelette, noodles, vegetables, egg + oysters if you want...). You don't even understand that you are waiting, because the process is another experience that you will enjoy watching.
