These pictures are the result if you leave for two days, two cousins, with two Canon 600D. I loooooved this reunion! Unfortunately we had only three days and the first one my car was broken 😞grrrr. So here you will find the most important places for sightseeing in Patra if you have only two days for the visit. Maybe in the future I can make a proper and more complete city guide.

RIO-ANTIRRIO BRIDGE
One of the biggest highlights of Patra is surely the amazing Rio-Antirrio Bridge. It is so big and so light at the same time. It seems to be made of four sails, and during the evenings of the weekend the bridge shines with blue lights till midnight, really romantic! In Rio (the area under the bridge from the side of Patra) you can stop to have a coffee with a great Bridge view. If you are by car, I definitely suggest to go across it to reach the city of Nafpaktos. Ask for a return card, so that, if you come back within three hours, you don't pay the toll again, and every hour more that passes by, you pay less than the full price (the cost of the bridge is around 13.50 euros)
PONTE RIO-ANTIRRIO
Uno dei maggiori punti salienti di Patrasso è sicuramente lo straordinario Ponte Rio-Antirrio. È così lungo e così leggero allo stesso tempo. I tiranti sembrano quattro vele, e durante le sere del fine settimana il ponte brilla di luci blu fino a mezzanotte, davvero romantico! A Rio (l'area sotto il ponte dal lato di Patrasso) ci si può fermare per prendere un caffè con una fantastica vista del Ponte. Se siete in auto, consiglio di attraversarlo per raggiungere la città di Nafpaktos. Richiedete una carta di ritorno, in modo che se tornate indietro entro tre ore, non pagate di nuovo il pedaggio, e ogni ora che passa, pagate meno del prezzo intero (il costo del ponte è di circa 13,50 euro)


NAFPAKTOS
This city originally was known as Lepanto (Venetian name). In 1571, here, the fleet of the Holy League (European Catholic maritime states arranged by Pope Pius V), together with the Venetian Republic and the Spanish Empire, inflicted a major defeat on the Ottoman Empire in the Gulf of Patras. This victory marked the turning point of Ottoman military expansion into the Mediterranean. Here, in this battle, took part also Miguel de Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote, and there is a plaque that remembers it.
Nafpaktos is one of my favourite towns. It is small, but full of history and really picturesque. I absolutely suggest you to visit the Castle, it costs only 1euro, but it is open only till 15.00, the view from there is incredible. Coming down from the castle, my advice is to check the ruins of Ottoman bath, that lead to the "Faltsoporti", that is called the false gate, cause instead of having the entrance and the exit in the same line, it makes a 90 degrees angle, so that from far away you see a wall instead of a way out. The 90 degrees were studied to stop the fury of the invasor. Then, if you have time, go to see the Botzaris museum, where you will fully understand the Battle of Lepanto. And absolutely stop at the adorable small port for a coffee, maybe it is the time to try the famous greek Freddo Espresso or Freddo Cappuccino. Here you will find also the Monument of Cervantes.




 




CASTLE OF PATRA
Another symbol of Patra is its castle. Again you can visit it only during the day till 15.00, but it is totally free. You can walk through the ruins and there is also a media room, where you will hear the whole history of the castle. I definitely suggest you to reach the top of it, where you will enjoy one of the best views of the town. If you are in Patra by night, don't forget to look at the castle on the hill, cause the lights are so atmospherical (the best perspectives are from Kolokotroni street and Agiou Nikolaou street).
CASTELLO DI PATRASSO
Un altro simbolo di Patrasso è il suo castello. Anche in questo caso potete visitarlo solo durante il giorno fino alle 15.00, ma è completamente gratuito. Potete camminare tra le rovine e c'è anche una sala multimediale, dove raccontano l'intera storia del castello. Vi consiglio caldamente di raggiungere la cima, dove potrete godervi una delle migliori viste della città. Se siete a Patrasso di notte, non dimenticate di guardare il castello sulla collina, perché le luci sono davvero atmosferiche (le migliori prospettive sono da via Kolokotroni e via Agiou Nikolaou).
ΤΟ ΚΑΣΤΡΟ ΤΗΣ ΠΑΤΡΑΣ
Ένα άλλο σύμβολο της Πάτρας είναι το κάστρο της. Και πάλι μπορείτε να το επισκεφθείτε μόνο κατά τη διάρκεια της ημέρας μέχρι τις 15.00, αλλά είναι εντελώς δωρεάν. Μπορείτε να περπατήσετε μέσα στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο και υπάρχει επίσης μια αίθουσα μέσων μαζικής ενημέρωσης, όπου θα ακούσετε όλη την ιστορία του κάστρου. Σίγουρα σας προτείνω να φτάσετε στην κορυφή του, όπου θα απολαύσετε μια από τις καλύτερες απόψεις της πόλης. Εάν βρίσκεστε στην Πάτρα το βράδυ, μην ξεχάσετε να κοιτάξετε το κάστρο στο λόφο, γιατί τα φώτα είναι τόσο ατμοσφαιρικά (οι καλύτερες προοπτικές είναι από την οδό Κολοκοτρώνη και Αγίου Νικολάου).

 








 

THE ROMAN ODEON
This is another stop that you can't miss, it is really close to the Castle, so you can reach it on foot. Once again the Odeon is open till 15.00 and the entrance is free. It was build around 160 AD, and now it has been restored and used as an open air theatre, if you have the chance, definitely go to one of the shows. If you reach the middle of the stage, there is one spot where the acustic is so incredibly perfect that, if you speak, you will hear your voice in your head like using a microphone, and all the audience will catch you clearly, even if you whisper.
L'ODEON ROMANO
Questa è un'altra tappa da non perdere, è molto vicina al Castello, quindi potete raggiungerlo a piedi. Ancora una volta l'Odeon è aperto fino alle 15.00 e l'ingresso è gratuito. Fu costruito intorno al 160 d.C. e ora è stato restaurato e usato come teatro all'aperto, se ne avete la possibilità, assolutamente andate ad uno degli spettacoli. Se raggiungete il centro del palcoscenico, c'è un punto in cui l'acustica è così incredibilmente perfetta che, se parlate, sentirete la vostra voce come se parlaste da un microfono, e tutto il pubblico sentirà chiaramente, anche se sussurrate.


ACHAIA CLAUSS
It is a winery since 1861. Has been founded by the Bavarian Gustav Clauss and its speciality is the sweet red wine Mavrodaphne. It is open every day till 17.00, the entrance is free, and there is also a free guided tour of the cellars. You will taste the most famous wines that are produced, and you will have the chance also to buy them. You seriously don't wanna miss it!!! The place is incredible, it is like an old castle, the wines are the best quality and the tour is super interesting, not even mentioning that the view from here is breathtaking.
ACHAIA CLAUSS
È una cantina dal 1861. È stata fondata dal Bavarese Gustav Clauss e la sua specialità è il vino rosso dolce Mavrodafne. È aperto tutti i giorni fino alle 17.00, l'ingresso è gratuito e c'è anche una visita guidata gratuita delle cantine. Assaggerete i vini più famosi che vengono prodotti e avrete la possibilità di acquistarli. Seriamente, non potete perdervela!!! Il posto è incredibile, assomiglia ad un vecchio castello, i vini sono di ottima qualità e il tour è super interessante, senza nemmeno menzionare la vista mozzafiato.
OUZO
If you are in Greece, you must try Ouzo with Meze. This spirit is used by the Greeks as an aperitiv with a small plate of really salty food to accompained it (the Meze), as anchovies, olives, feta cheese and some greek salad. If you are in the area of Achaia Clauss, I really suggest you to have it in the restaurant Taverna Krini. You will enjoy your Ouzo under the shadow of a plane tree, in a real traditional Greek village.
THE SUNSET
The sunsets in Patra are AMAZING! Patra is slightly looking towards West, so that the sunset is exactly over the sea. The best places to enjoy it is the Area of the Port (this picture), or Vrachneika, this is absolutely the coolest spot, with a lot of restaurants next to the sea, so you can even have dinner later on!
IL TRAMONTO
I tramonti a Patrasso sono INCREDIBILI! Patrasso guarda leggermente verso ovest, in questo modo  il tramonto è esattamente sopra il mare. I posti migliori per goderselo sono l'Area del Porto (questa foto), o Vrachneika, questo è assolutamente il posto più bello, con molti ristoranti sul mare, quindi potete anche cenare successivamente!
